Our history

Human Factors archivesThe company Human Factors was established in Great Britain in 1983. It founder was Dr. Adrian Atkinson, a consultant in management and organization development. The company quickly reached success in Great Britain and started implementing projects abroad so Human Factors soon became international. In the beginning of the 1990’s offices were opened in Norway (Oslo) – beginning of 1992, in Russia (Moscow) – April 1993, and in London – July 1998. At present Human Factors has relations with 120 partners on the territory of North and South America, Africa, the majority of European countries, China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand.

Foundation of the Moscow Office
In the beginning of 1993 the company Human Factors (Russia) was established in Moscow with the aim of providing services to the existing clients as well as other foreign companies represented on the Russian market. The organisers of this project were Dmitry Shibanov and Kirill Nikiforuk. At that time Human Factors (Russia) was a small firm which employed 5 people. In the period from 1993 to 1996 Human Factors successfully implemented projects in recruitment for such companies as Gillette, Reebok and MosOtis. Also the first training and development schemes were carried out in the companies Coca Cola Refreshments Moscow and Global TeleSystems Group.

Development of Human Factors (Russia)
By 1998 the company altered considerably. Several departments were organised: Recruitment Department, Client Department and Training Department. More and more companies became clients of Human Factors (Russia). Many consulting projects were successfully implemented in such organizations as DialogueBank, Microdin, Troika-Dialogue, trainigs in OAO “Inkom-Bank”, recruitment projects in Wimm-Bill-Dann, AO “Vremya”. The crisis of 1998 greatly influenced the company Human Factors. Three factors played a role in those difficult circumstances: our professionalism, help from our foreign colleagues, and the desire to pursue our work. Despite the complexity of the situation we found ourselves in, we perceive the crisis of 1998 as a positive episode of our history. We kept our team, revised our strategy, and made a restructuring of the company. This let us not only to live through the crisis, but also to overcome it and become a stronger, more competitive company.

10 Years on the Consultancy Market
Human Factors nowadays differs greatly from the company founded in 1993.
Human Factors (Russia) is now one of the leading companies in the sphere of human resource consultancy in Russia and the CIS. All the changes that the company has undergone during the last 10 years is closely connected with the changes that happened in our client-companies. Now there are different tasks, different deadlines, and different scale. For example, if in the beginning clients were most frequently interested in standard, basic business-trainings, now we often work out full-scale corporate system of personnel development. We deal with large most famous international companies and financial and industrial groups as well as with middle-range developing companies and banks. Each client may have different goals, resources, culture, personnel and also tasks that they set before us. Despite these differences and uniqueness of each one of them they have a common objective – to be the best in their field.

In April 2003 we celebrated our 10th anniversary, which symbolizes a new milestone, a great deal of work has been done and a lot is yet to come.
